Power Line

A plan to build a new power line line running through our region is drawing concern from area residents. Alta-Link is proposing two separate, but connected projects that would see new sub-stations and a transmission line built from west Brooks to east Medicine Hat and to the south of Whitla. There are three optional routes the company could choose for the line. But while the blueprints are still preliminary, as Ina Sidhu reports not everyone is happy about the possible location.
Cattle Changes

First it was B-S-E in 2003, now a slow economy. The multi-billion dollar Alberta beef industry is acknowledging times are tough -- as pockets of probability are being overshadowed by negative margins. And as Ina Sidhu reports, producers in our area say changes are needed for beef cattle production to continue as the largest contributor to the province's agriculture sector.
Solar Launch
Going green in the gas city. As world leaders converged on Copenhagen to talk climate change, officials in our city are working on ending our reliance on fossil fuels. Scott Cunningham catches up with civic leaders, and those in the private sector bent on making the gas city a haven for new energy.
MHC Bomb Threat

Police investigators are combing through phone records after a bomb threat sent Medicine Hat College students into the parking lot today. Just after ten this morning thousands of students and staff were evacuated from the post secondary institution during final exams. Scott Cunningham was on the scene. He files this report.
Popular Stolen Auto's
It's a nation-wide problem, that is also prevalent right here in our province. In fact, auto theft costs Albertans 60 million dollars a year in insurance claims -- and come at a total cost of one billion dollars a year to Canadians. As Ina Sidhu reports, the Insurance Bureau of Canada is out with its annual list of the top ten most stolen vehicles in the country -- and this year the list is reflecting global concern.

New year, new beginnings. Following one of the worst stretches in the last twenty years --- Medicine Hat's real estate market is showing growth. Beginning in September of 2008 the business of buying and selling homes took a turn for the worst in our area. But as Scott Cunningham learned , as our country pulls itself from the grips of a recession, the local real estate market is gaining steam.
