Officials say cuts in the local business community are taking a big bite out of the Medicine Hat food bank. Clientele has risen dramatically and officials are forecasting a hard year ahead. There is the potential for both positive and negative news for our city as upper level of governments make economic moves in opposite directions. The Harper government wants to get 3 billion dollars worth of infrastructure funding flowing to cities in the next few months. But at the same time Alberta is tightening its belt -- the province is cutting back on capital projects -- which local officials acknowledge could potentially impact the Medicine Hat hospital expansion.
