Energy Future

Our city's energy division is moving ahead with giving money back to Hatters -- in the form of a gas rebate.  It was supposed to happen this month, but the money will begin to flow in February.  It's good news for a department dealing with a high level of uncertainty right now.  Questions are swirling over the reason for high utility rates, how often rates should be set -- and whether or not the city should even be in the energy industry.  Reporter Kyle Bakx finds the answers.

Medicine Hat's mayor is tipping his hat to the city's police department on a job well done in 2008.  The official statistics are in for last year and figures show a relatively low crime rate for the city.  But the amount of tickets for motorists is once again on the rise.  Reporter Kyle Bakx is crunching all the stats for us tonight.

Canadian Chamber of Commerce President

The head of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce admitted Wednesday in Medicine Hat -- that many small businesses across Canada are struggling to stay afloat.  And he's pushing the federal government for help in next week's budget. But as Kyle Bakx reports local retail sales aren't showing many signs of the doom and gloom.
