According to a new ranking by a Canadian magazine -- Medicine Hat is far below national averages in just about all categories -- except for one. It's been a very busy year at the Medicine Hat food bank. The service has seen usership increase sharply and have been battling to keep up with demand. But now, thanks to an outpouring of community support, things are looking up. Jeremy Hunka reports.

Yesterday, royalty cuts and credits were announced in a package meant to stimulate the industry and create jobs. To build or not to build: that's been the question facing a plethora of city aldermen --- and not just here in our city. Just a few hours down the Trans-Canada, it took a referendum by Moose Jaw residents to finally give council there the green light on a new arena. Here in Medicine Hat, the future of the events centre isn't quite as clear.
