Women's Shelter Donations

Through the efforts of a brother and sister who lost a sibling to homicide in 2007 - two local women's shelters are receiving a very welcome donation. As Kyle Bakx discovered, the personal care and food items are valuable donations to victims in dire need of a helping hand.

It focuses on the term "secondary migration"--- that's the term used to describe when refugees leave large centres like Vancouver in favor of other areas. As Jeremy Hunka reports, some say secondary migration, is leaving Southeastern Alberta at a severe disadvantage.

The Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Medicine Hat are on the hunt this month. The charitable organization has named May "In School Mentoring Month", and with 15 kids in our city waiting for a positive role model - officials with the group say there is no time is like the present. The city's first community conference has wrapped up at the Medicine Hat College.  The goal of the "Now We're Talking" conference -- was for organizations, businesses and government bodies to work together and collaborate more to create a better city. Over the last 15 years, Police Point park has grown to be one of the biggest attractions in Medicine Hat for residents and visitors alike.  A reality that is due in large part to the efforts of a local organization dedicated to preserving nature and the environment.
