After months of consultations, a public survey and hours of debate, the Ernst and Young report was finally voted on last night at city council. The controversial report made 5 key recommendations on how to change Medicine Hat's city-owned oil and gas business. But as Jeremy Hunka reports, almost all of them were voted down.

To college students, summer is a welcome and much anticipated relief--but to 17 Medicine Hat young adults, this summer was anything but a holiday. A group called "the connection" flew to Africa last month, building houses, delivering medicine - doing whatever they could to help one of the world's most desperate regions. Chat Reporter Jeremy Hunka accompanied this group and this week brings you a five part series called "Smiles to the Somber". In part one today he shows how these ordinary Hatters transformed the life of a Ugandan woman, who had lost nearly everything- including two small children.
