Utility Donation

The city of Medicine Hat is teaming up with the Salvation Army -- in an effort to help those residents who are struggling to pay their utility bills.  Customers would be asked to give a donation when paying their monthly bill -- that money would then be distributed by the Salvation Army.  Reporter Kyle Bakx explains.

Car vs Semi. 3 words police in Medicine Hat dread, and ones that became a horrific reality this morning. Just after eight o'clock --- police were called to the corner of Gershaw drive and Holsom Road, where traffic officials say they encountered the worst accident they have seen this year. Scott Cunningham was on scene this morning and files this report.

A commitment by the Alberta government to fund infrastructure projects in Medicine Hat is running out.  Just over one million dollars is left  -- and the city is going to use it on paving 3 different roadways.  Reporter Kyle Bakx has the story.

It is big business for the city and was the centre of much debate at last nights city council meeting:  photo radar tickets.  In 2009 the city raked in more than three million from lead footed drivers.  While the police bank accounts grow, some alderman are questioning if the pinch on drivers pocket books is acting as any deterrent at all.
