This is the same property that was at the centre of the proposed one-dollar deal last summer. Tonight, we now know who the developer is and some details about his proposal. Childhood Obesity

Local officials are warning that child-obesity rates could eventually clog our healthcare system. We've known for years that obesity rates are much higher here than elsewhere in Canada. But some say nearly one in three students is now over weight, so school systems are again amping up their fight. Jeremy Hunka reports.

Tuition Hike

Some business, pharmacy and engineering students in Alberta will be facing steep tuition hikes starting next year. Last week, Advanced Education Minister Doug Horner announced new one-time fees at the Universities of Alberta and Calgary and just this week, NAIT revealed plans to cut over a dozen programs to help with its budget shortfall. Ina Sidhu has more now on what changes, if any, are in store for students at M-H-C. |
April Snow

Winds up to 70 Kilometers per hour and nearly a foot of snow -- that's the reality for our region as a spring storm continues to ravage southeastern Alberta. Power was knocked out to 75 percent of Lethbridge and road conditions through to Maple Creek remain treacherous . All day the miserable weather continued and isn't expected to let up until later this evening. Reporter Kyle Bakx tallies up the damage. |
