A devastated region. A daunting clean-up - and a community struggling to stay afloat after June flooding. Eleven weeks ago water ravaged hundreds of home in the Irvine area. Now, a handful of provincial agencies have set up shop in the rural community -- vowing they will not leave until all concerns have been addressed. Yet only 34 per cent of compensation applicants are actually holding cheques and most say the minor cash will not help. Back to School
Summer came to an end for students today as they headed back to school - but many got off to a rough start. Some children who rely on school buses for transportation were late for class this morning because of changes to bus schedules. Tot-em transportation runs most school buses in the city and recently changed routes to make ride times shorter. As Breanna Karstens-Smith reports, the new system seems to be causing more confusion than solution.
Biker Behaviour
City police call intelligence gathered on a weekend visit by outlaw bikers - invaluable. Officials say over fifty patch wearing members of the Hells Angels, and other puppet organizations used our city to rally. Police had issued a warning to citizens last week, but with only minor traffic violations handed out - some in the city are calling the police warning - over-kill, and unfair for the peaceful bikers.
