February 5, 2010 Indoor Tanning	The Canadian Dermatology Association is out with a message for those who want a sun-kissed look year round. The C-D-A is urging young women especially, to stay away from tanning beds to prevent against skin cancer -- the most common cancer diagnosed in the country. As Ina Sidhu reports, when it comes to soaking up the rays, some say its all about moderation and education.
Olympic Bound Cop February 5, 2010	It's the largest security operation in Canadian history, and 5 Medicine Hat police officers are on their way. 600 Alberta police will join thousands more in British Columbia for the upcoming winter games. While the world watches Vancouver--they'll be watching for our safety. As Jeremy Hunka reports one officer is set to leave tomorrow---prepared for the police duty of a lifetime.
New Recruits February 5, 2010	One of the highlights from Thursday's Speech from the Throne -- was a commitment to hiring 100 more police officers in Alberta. City Police are hopeful that may mean funding for a few new positions here in Medicine Hat. A few new bodies are currently training to join the ranks. And as Kyle Bakx reports, the recruits are receiving their training in our city for the first time ever.
Snow Removal February 4, 2010	Over-budget and under performing. That's how the city's snow removal effort is being described. Officials admitting today that crews just aren't meeting expectations. They aren't solely to blame as the city has received above average levels of snow this winter. While the city is over-budget on keeping streets clean -- there's a new call for more resources. Reporter Kyle Bakx has more on the issue, which is becoming a slippery slope for city officials.
Tomlinson Sentence February 3, 2010	He had already been found guilty -- but today a former Brooks man learned his punishment. 26-year-old Cody Allen Tomlinson was originally charged a few years ago -- in connection with the death of a two year-old boy. The toddler was Carter Murfin -- the son of Tomlinson's girlfriend at the time. Tomlinson alleged the boy fell while playing with a toy -- but the judge rejected the explanation. For today's sentencing -- the case was moved to Lethbridge out of convenience for both families. Kyle Bakx has the details of the sentence.
Train Derailment February 3, 2010	A TRAIN JUMPED OFF THE RAILS AT THE DOWNTOWN CANADIAN PACIFIC TRAIN STATION LAST NIGHT---CRASHING WITH SUCH THUNDER IT RATTLED NEARBY WINDOWS . IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE 5:30 IN THE EVENING--AND LITTLE INFORMATION WAS IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE. BUT AS THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES, WE DO KNOW THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE CRASH -- MUCH TO THE AMAZEMENT OF WITNESSES--WHO SAW THE WHOLE THING UNFOLD--FROM A NEARBY GYM WINDOW. Water Resolution February 2, 2010	One alderman calls it quote, "the best news of the century". Some "high priority" negotiations have just wrapped up, giving Medicine Hat more access to increasingly scarce river water. Their were fears the city's growth would be stunted--as resources dry up. But---after the city sat down with the government---it turns out the taps won't be turned off, at least not yet.
