Indoor Tanning

The Canadian Dermatology Association is out with a message for those who want a sun-kissed look year round. The C-D-A is urging young women especially, to stay away from tanning beds to prevent against skin cancer -- the most common cancer diagnosed in the country. As Ina Sidhu reports, when it comes to soaking up the rays, some say its all about moderation and education.

Olympic Bound Cop

It's the largest security operation in Canadian history, and 5 Medicine Hat police officers are on their way.  600 Alberta police will join thousands more in British Columbia for the upcoming winter games.  While the world watches Vancouver--they'll be watching for our safety.  As Jeremy Hunka reports one officer is set to leave tomorrow---prepared for the police duty of a lifetime.

New Recruits

One of the highlights from Thursday's Speech from the Throne -- was a commitment to hiring 100 more police officers in Alberta.  City Police are hopeful that may mean funding for a few new positions here in Medicine Hat. A few new bodies are currently training to join the ranks.  And as Kyle Bakx reports, the recruits are receiving their training in our city for the first time ever.

Snow Removal

Over-budget and under performing.  That's how the city's snow removal effort is being described. Officials admitting today that crews just aren't meeting expectations.  They aren't solely to blame as the city has received above average levels of snow this winter.  While the city is over-budget on keeping streets clean -- there's a new call for more resources.  Reporter Kyle Bakx has more on the issue, which is becoming a slippery slope for city officials.
