Behaviour Bylaw

Swearing, fighting and loitering.  Those are just some of the actions that city police are trying to curb with a new bylaw.  We told you last week about the proposed legislation.  But police now plan to scale back the behaviour bylaw.  Meaning certain things, like spitting, may remain perfectly legal in Medicine Hat.  Reporter Kyle Bakx explains.

Vanier School Closing

It was a unanimous vote on what trustees call a sensitive subject.  The public school board chose Tuesday night to close Georges P. Vanier School ---a building designated for children with moderate to severe disabilities.  Though the vote is now over--officials say the challenge of integrating students into the mainstream, is just beginning.  Jeremy Hunka reports.

Ambulance Reaction

Provincial health officials are taking a second look at their proposed plan to centralize ambulance dispatch. Newly appointed health minister Gene Zwozdesky is pausing the transition to review the project. Rural centres, including Medicine Hat, have fought the plan from day one.  And as Kyle Bakx reports, they want the minister to scrap the project altogether.
