Alberta continues to produce the majority of beef in Canada. In fact, around 60 percent of all cattle are grown in our province. But what was once an industry made up of many small rural farmers, is increasingly being swallowed up by massive operations.

Downtown Eats
Dining out in the downtown. As the summer approaches businesses in the downtown core are stepping up their game. Many felt the pinch of the recession, though most were able to weather the economic storm. Scott Cunningham now with a story of the high's and lows of the restaurant business in Medicine Hat.
Cultural Fallout

"Frustrating and stressful" is how local artists describe their meeting with Medicine Hat College officials last night. Emotions boiled over as arts groups who have utilized the Cultural Centre continue to fight for the space they have called home for three decades. Medicine Hat College wants to break a long standing lease agreement with the city which could force dozens of the groups to relocate. Though has Scott Cunningham reports the local dancers, painters and other artists are vowing not to walk away without a fight.
History in the Hills
It was a windy day today, but that didn't stop over three hundred and fifty students from heading to Elkwater for a very special event. Jesse Beyer tells us more about History in the Hills.
County Flooding

Clean up efforts continue in our region -- after the immense amount of rain and snow over the weekend. One official says there were hundreds of flooded basements in Cypress County. While the sunshine is helping to dry up the land, too many fields continue to be covered with water, among other damage. Reporter Kyle Bakx has the story.

Degree Extension

Just as the first class of education degree students are poised to graduate from Medicine Hat College this weekend, the next generation of teachers in our region have learned their fate. Two months ago our local post secondary institution was in jeopardy of losing one of its joint degree granting courses. But now, just as the first class of education degree students will don the cap and gown, new life has been dealt to a program many thought was doomed. Scott Cunningham has more.

Last month CHAT News introduced you to several women on a mission to gain control of their health - through an eight week bikini contest at Heartbreaker Dance and Fitness. While physical workouts are a major component of the boot camp , the focus on nutrition is just as important. However that - of course - is often easier said than done...because as Ina Sidhu tells us --- there is an emotional side of eating that often takes over.
Flooding

Road closures, damaged trails and rising rivers -- the end result from a weekend filled with wet weather. The rain started on Thursday and lasted until this morning, with few breaks in between. Nearly a dozen emergency officials gathered this morning, as water levels have have reached their highest point this year. Reporter Kyle Bakx tallies up the damage.
