Medican Extension

Financially unstable construction giant Medican has been given a new lease on life. The Medicine Hat based builder filed for creditor protection in late May -- and as has been fighting to pull their operations from the red ever since. Today, Medican was given a vote of confidence in a Calgary courtroom. But as Reporter Scott Cunningham discovered, the scope of the company's financial woes is much deeper than originally forecasted. |

Irvine Flood Meeting

Frustration boiled over today in the flood ravaged community of Irvine. Around one hundred residents met face to face with the minister of municipal affairs who controls the provinces disaster response program. Hector Goudreau along with Cypress Medicine Hat MLA Len Mitzel braved the hostile crowd just a month after Premier Ed Stelmach apologized to the people of southern Alberta for not moving more quickly in response to June flooding. Something weary residents in Irvine say is still not happening. |
Sewage Lift

The residents of River Ridge have been dealing with a messy and smelly situation over the last several years and now have had enough. They've taken over operation of a troublesome sewage lift station in the development. It stinks, it could be polluting the south saskatchewan river, and it is costing them money. Medican, who built the development - can offer little help since they are in financial distress. So, as reporter Kyle Bakx explains -- the residents are looking to the city for assistance. |
