Surge in Drunks

They're calling it surprising and disturbing, but the trend shows no signs of slowing down. According to police, Impaired Driving Arrests are surging in Medicine Hat this year---on pace for a 76% increase. As Jeremy Hunka reports--police are crediting a targeted crackdown for the arrests. They're using new and "strategic methods"--hoping to catch criminals by surprise.

Golf Course Trouble

Nearly 4 weeks after massive flooding in our area, a local group is leaning towards legal action to receive compensation. The Cottonwood golf course and 4 farmers are accusing the St. Mary River Irrigation District of releasing water from the Murray Dam -- which caused unnecessary flooding to the Seven Persons creek. The Tories unveiled the biggest disaster relief package in Alberta history this month--but they've been deflecting criticism for weeks--from politicians who say it was far too late. Donations Slump

The Medicine Hat food bank is just one of the many charities that has stepped up in the past weeks to help victims of the recent flooding. The organization created hampers full of food and other household items for families effected by the flooding. But as Breanna Karstens-Smith reports, none of the hampers have ever been picked up.
