City police say they are not anticipating any problems as a controversial pro-life campaign lands in our city. It's called a "Reproductive Choice" tour, navigating its way across southern Alberta. And as Reporter Scott Cunningham tells us, the self proclaimed "graphic anti- abortion" group, received a mixed reaction when they arrived this afternoon. As enrollment continues to rise, funding hasn't followed suit. And that's why divisions are cutting teachers and running deficits. Kyle Bakx reports. |
Great Dames Closes

Ripped off, cheated, and deceived. That's how a group of local women are feeling today, after a local gym abruptly closed its doors. The "Great Dames fitness centre" shut down just weeks ago, but some members say ownership continued to renew contracts, up until the final hours of operations. Scott Cunningham has more. |

A local company is crediting a quick police response, and a makeshift "stake-out", for the arrest of a Calgary man in Redcliff. Employees at Savanna Drilling, say their yard has been broken into several times in just 7 days. After losing a truck and trailer in the crime spree, they posted their own guards on late-night duty, turning to a potentially risky method to catch the crook. Jesse Beyer reports. |
Conflicted Schneider?

A potential conflict of interest has arisen surrounding a Medicine Hat councillor. Alderman Ty Schneider has been appointed to help get Medican out of creditor protection. But while he works with the local developer, he's also chairing the city's Municipal Planning Commission. That committee approves construction and developments in Medicine Hat, so some are wary of the potential conflict. Kyle Bakx reports. |
Glanville Again

It appears a prime piece of downtown land, sitting empty for decades, will remain vacant. The owner of Lacey Homes confirms that his proposal to develop the old Glanville Ford site -- has been rejected by the city. The property is located at 603 First street, the same land at the centre of the proposed "one dollar deal." The latest bid was to construct a 4-storey retail and office centre. But as Kyle Bakx reports, the proposal was denied. |
Health Act

The first public consultation on a proposed Alberta Health Act, began this afternoon in Medicine Hat. Provincial officials say their "workshop tour", is aimed at gathering input from those the new legislation will affect. But as Ina Sidhu reports, some in attendance say they're skeptical their opinions will actually count. |
