You’ve probably heard about the Television Industry’s conversion to Digital High Definition. You may even have an HD TV and may be watching HD television in your home. If so, you’re probably impressed with the quality of the signal you’re getting.
In Canada, due to different broadcast regulations, we have lagged behind the United States in converting to HD. However, as of September 1, 2011 CHAT Television will begin supplying a digital high definition feed to all cable and satellite companies re-transmitting our signal. This represents a major commitment by CHAT Television and the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group to ensure that our television stations keep pace with changing technology. Our conversion is in three phases.
· Phase 1 (nearing completion) o All commercials and programs supplied to us delivered in DHD o All new local commercials produced in DHD
· Phase 2 (in the coming months) o News and local programming upgraded to DHD
· Phase 3 (within the next 18 months) o Conversion of on-air transmitter from analog to digital
This is a huge capital investment for us, but it means we are committed to staying current with consumer demands for digital television.
CHAT Television and the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group are committed to serve our communities with the best television product possible. Unfortunately, it will take some time for cable and satellite companies to make room for both a digital CHAT signal and a high definition CHAT signal to be available on their services. We’re as impatient as you are!
We thank you for your support, and look forward to a bright future in high definition! |
